Ethics & Policy

Editorial Standards

These standards guide every story published by English Vanguard. They exist to earn and maintain the trust of our readers.

Questions about these policies may be directed to newsroom@englishvanguard.co.uk.

  1. 1. Accuracy first

We strive to ensure our reporting is accurate, evidence-based, and clearly sourced.

  2. 2. Verification

We seek to verify significant factual claims before publication and distinguish verified information from allegations or developing reports.

  3. 3. Fair opportunity to respond

Where reporting contains criticism or allegations about identifiable individuals or organizations, we seek comment from them before publication where appropriate and practicable.

  4. 4. Corrections

If we make a factual error, we will correct it transparently and promptly.

  5. 5. News vs opinion

We clearly distinguish news reporting, analysis, and opinion.

  6. 6. Protection of children

We do not publish information that could unlawfully identify child victims or compromise safeguarding.

  7. 7. Public interest

We prioritise stories that affect community safety, safeguarding, policing, public accountability, and the welfare of children and vulnerable people.

  8. 8. Evidence over assumptions

We report what we can support with evidence. We do not present speculation as fact.
